A Message from Matt Ontell

Happy New Year! I hope the holidays and new year have proved to be a chance to pause, reflect, and reenergize as we head into 2021. The team here welcomed the respite from the craziness of 2020. We appreciate the excellent work done around the world by all of you and look forward to seeing your future successes unfold. We want to celebrate your achievements with you.

Our H2 priorities continue to be driving customer health and growth with focus on Edge, Security, and Teams workloads. Please let us know what additional resources would be helpful to you; we look forward to continuing to iterate rapidly based on your feedback.

Matt Ontell
FRP Program Lead

RESOURCES TO DRIVE YOUR PRACTICE

Fix to Forecast Dates in FastTrack Orchestration Portal (FTOP)

We are pleased to report that a fix was released to FTOP which addressed the intermittent problem of Forecast Dates not being saved upon entry. If you continue to encounter an issue with Forecast Date updates, please contact FTOP operations through the standard escalation channels.

Please reference the Yammer post FTOP Update – Fix to Forecast Date.

Correction to M365 Apps AU Reporting Issue

Several partners have reported an issue with the M365 Apps (formerly OPP) usage data for their customers in the FTOP and the FRP Dashboard. Their customers’ M365 Apps data was displaying a zero (0) AU percentage even though they had active usage. Our development team determined the data source used for FY21 reporting did not include M365 Apps data for some of our partners.

A correction was successfully implemented the last week of December to incorporate all M365 Apps usage data since October into FTOP Usage and NorthStar reporting.

New Whitepaper: Migrating Applications from Symantec SiteMinder to Azure Active Directory

In the Migrating Applications from Symantec SiteMinder to Azure Active Directory whitepaper, we provide a three phase approach to migrate applications from Symantec SiteMinder to Azure Active Directory.

  • In the first phase, we help customers discover and plan the migration. We guide them through inventory and requirements of their current applications and set up the right components of Azure Active Directory along with a decision chart for them to pick the right integration.
  • In the next phase, we guide them through the deployment of Azure Active Directory and provide a communication strategy.
  • Lastly, we provide step-by-step guidance on application migration and integration options with an example that walks them through actual migration of applications from Symantec SiteMinder to Azure Active Directory.

The whitepaper can be found at https://aka.ms/SiteMindertoAzureAD; we would love to receive your feedback.

New Automation Assistant to Configure MS Search

For customers who want to increase employee productivity, improving access to relevant information is a priority. Microsoft Search is an internal tool that enables users to find what they need in Microsoft 365 within their organization through tailored searches for personal results.

FastTrack has added a new automation assistant for IT pros to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center to help them easily configure Microsoft Search. Our goal is to reduce steps and friction for admins to set up Microsoft Search and Search bookmarks. We recommend that this feature be set up with the rollout of Edge to provide the best user experience and assist in giving users the choice of using Edge as their primary browser.

Make your customers aware that automation is available to help minimize resource constraints and answer common questions. Tenant admins can access the wizard at aka.ms/MicrosoftSearchSetup
